Festival of Spring

Hello, frisbee dog lovers!

Now that the inclement weather is gone, our first competition of the year is the Luray Festival of Spring, which will be held on Saturday, May 7, in beautiful Luray, VA.  Registration will begin at 11:00 am, with events starting at 11:30 am.  We’ll be running four games, roughly along the following schedule (time and weather permitting):

  • Timed Retrieve: 11:30 am-12:30 pm
  • Advanced & Pro Freestyle: 12:30-1 pm
  • Toss-Fetch: 1-2 pm
  • Beginner Freestyle: 2-2:30 pm
  • Bullseye: 2:30-3:30 pm

This is a bit different from our usual format because we usually get a lot of foot traffic, and this gives more people a chance to enjoy the freestyle routines.  If you’re planning to come, or even thinking about it and know what song you want to use for freestyle, please email the song to Ellen Oberholtzer with your dog’s name and freestyle level (Beginner, Advanced, or Pro).  In order to make the event run more smoothly, we will create a playlist on one device of everyone’s freestyle music.  (If it’s not an edited song and you just want to send the name of the song, we’ll get a copy of the song.)

For those interested in staying in the area, the Days Inn is a great place for the dogs, and several club members stay there.  There are large fields surrounding the building.  We will be having a potluck after the event at the Days Inn (you don’t need to be staying there to join in!).  If you know what you’re planning to bring, please post to our forum so we can get a variety of food.  Also, the potluck will be a BYOB event for beverages, so plan accordingly.

As usual, we’ll need help running the event, so we’ll be looking for judges, announcers, registration and data entry help, as well as help with set-up and breakdown.  Please let me know if you’ll be able to help out.

One more favor, if you’re planning to become a 2016 club member, please send your membership form and dues in ahead of time.

Looking forward to a great start of the season!
